THE BODYGUARD - CH 02

Jessie scrolled out of the gym building and walked a paved path that connects the gym to the main 30-story building on the other end. The weather was cool and crisp with the wind blowing a breeze to cool off a body after a nice long intense workout that she had to do almost every other day to keep from not getting bored to death.
She approached a glass door in which you had to use either a key code or waved your wristband to signal your entrance. She decided to use her wristband in front of the scanner. She heard a beep and the scanner pad went green allowing her access inside the building.
Jessie opens the doors and walks inside feeling the instant blast of the AC cooling her down even more. She glanced around hearing small conversation coming from other agents who chattering about their missions or gossip about whatever.
She rolled her eyes until she made it to the elevator and pressed the call button to signal the elevator to come to the floor that she was on.
While she waited one of the agents approached her with a smile on their face. Jessie turned her head to the side and noticed who it was. At this point, all she wanted to do is grab a gun and blow her brains out.
"Hey Jessica, how have you been?" He asked. The guy was what every woman would love to date and bring home to their mother. Standing at 6'0 and weighing at 165lbs, dark brown eyes and hair with brown skin.
It was Kent.
Basically, someone that she wishes that she never met, dated or had any involvement with.
She would have thought if she stopped all communications with him, he would get the hint and leave her alone. But no, he was just as stubborn as she was to get back on the field.
Jessie didn't answer but kept pressing the call button rapidly hoping that the elevator would get here sooner than later.
"Did you hear me?" He asked her, waving his hand in front of her face to get her attention.
Jessie kissed her teeth and started to act like there was something flying her face. "There must be a mosquito in here.  Maybe we need to call the exterminator."
"Oh, I see how it is," Kent snorted, seeing that Jessie wasn't paying him any mind. He even noticed that she went inside her bag and pulled out her iPod and placed the earbuds over her ear to tune him out.
He kissed his teeth and turned on his heel of his shoes storming off away from her.
With a smirk on her face, Jessie stepped into the elevator which had arrived to allow her to go to the floor that she needed to go to. She pressed the 30th-floor button so it could take her to her boss/father's office.
A few minutes later, Jessie arrived at the 30th and stepped out walking down a long narrow hallway until she arrived in front of another glass door. She knocked once before stepping inside and storming up to the man who requested her. "You wanted to see me." She stated, throwing her bag on the chair that was in front of her and leaning forward onto it.
The man on the other end of the desk was sitting at his desk with his eyes engrossed into whatever he was reading on the screen of his computer. He lifted his right hand and used the mouse to click out of the windows that he was in.
Still not saying a word, he reached into his drawer and pulled out a yellow folder and tossed it over to Jessie. She eyed the folder and walked around the chair to pick it up.
"What's this?" She questioned him as she flipped through the information but not really reading what was written inside.
Her father took off his glasses and rubbed the bridge of his nose before answering her "You wanted to work so here you go," He leans back in his leather chair which made a noise from the sudden change in his position.
Jessie flipped the papers back and went back to the main page in the front. This time she read what the request was and of course was not happy with it. "Become someone's bodyguard? Are you fuckin' kidding me?"
Wood smirked before leaning now forward on his desk and intertwining his fingers over each other. "You wanted to get back to work and I think that this is the first step for you going back to what you love."
Jessie tossed the folder back onto the desk, shifting her body and folding her arms over chest. "When I stated that I wanted to get back to work, what I meant is going back on the field not being someone's protector."
Woods chuckled. "I understand what you're saying, Jessie but right now you're still under surveillance and if we were tp put you back on the field..."
"I know I might die," Jessie cut in with an annoying remark. "After all the training that I've been doing so far, shouldn't that say that I'm more prepared to go back? I even kicked Mike's ass and he's supposed to be the strongest person."
Woods huffed getting more frustrated with the conversation. "Just do this, Jessie and if I can work something out with your doctors then will see, okay?"
After a long silence, Jessie finally leaned forward grabbing the folder and shook it in front of him. "Fine, I'll do it but you better keep your promise."
She was now getting up and collecting her things to head out.
Wood turned back to his computer and clicked back to what he was doing. "Oh, and anything," He started off saying. Jessie turned around feeling even more annoyed that there was something else to discuss.
"The job is located in Seoul," He finished off saying to her.
Jessie's eyes widening as she stared at the man that was her father. "You're telling me that I have to go to South Korea to protect someone. You've got to fuckin kidding me right now!"
Wood tilted his head towards her, why does she have such a potty mouth he thought.
"The company that requested the service stated that one of their employees is being terrorized by crazed fans and even to the point of getting death threats. Since we have the best agents they were referred to us to protect them. Out of all the agents here at the company, there are only two that is good in Korean fluently, you and Johnny. Unfortunately, Johnny hasn't completed his training so we can't send him out even if we would to so.."
"So I was chosen, yeah me," Jessie said was no enthusiasm in her voice.
Woods shot air guns with his index fingers out to his daughter while clicking his teeth. "You got it," He stated.
At this point, Jessie was done but at least she would be able to get out and used this special skill that she had no other choice but to use.
She then turned again on the heels of her sneakers and headed to the door to leave before hearing another word come out of her father's mouth. "Your plane leaves in four hours so if I was you, I would get picking."
Jessie then squeezed the door knob with a tight grip,  holding back saying another word to him.
