THE BODYGUARD CH. 01

A pounding noise from a fist hitting the podium echo through the meeting room as the man at the stand requested everyone's undivided attention.
In which he received as the noise in the room halted and all eyes were on him.
He had a stern look on his face that made you stop dead in your tracks to look at him.
His piercing eyes shot daggers into your soul that cause you to freeze up and shut up to listen he had to say.
He looked at all the men and women who sat in front of him. Now that he had their attention, he was ready to move on.
He lifted up his right hand and in between his fingers was a Mueller folder. "We have a new mission and I need someone to take it, immediately," he ordered.
All heads hung low or scribbled on the pad that was in front of them.
He looked around the room and to his dismay, no one looked up to meet his eyes. "So that's how it's going to be, huh ?" he snarled at the group of people.
And again, no one jumped up to take the mission.
They knew for a face that anytime it was a mission from the man in charged, it was either a long and boring mission or quick and boring mission. Neither being exciting or fun to do.
Taking a long ass breath, the commander decided to randomly draw a name. "If none of you motherfuckers volunteer, then I'll select someone for it."
All eyes looked at him.
You can see them begging to not get the mission or praying to the GODS above to not get chosen.
He scrolled down the list of names that he had in front of him until a smile beamed on his face.
He glanced up seeing all eyes on him once more, "Melissa Greene?" He said.
From hearing that name everyone else let out a sigh of relief. They were all happy that they were selected for the mystery mission.
He moved an eyebrow up waiting to hear from that person he had chosen but never did they report that they were there.
He slammed his hand on the podium, "didn't I say that this was a mandatory meeting?!"
Heads nodded yes. All of the agents knew that the meeting was mandatory when he requested everyone to be on time in the meeting room.
"So, where's Ms. Greene?" he yelled out the room.
Those in the room turned to look at each other afraid to step forward and report to the commander on where she was.
The commander was growing impatient.
For one where was Agent Green and two, why isn't anyone stepping forward to tell him where she is.
"If I have to ask again, you all know what's going to happen next," he stated.
That made everyone on edge. None of the agents wanted to know what would happen to them.
They had heard rumors from the senior agents that told them that if anyone gets on the boss's bad side, he made them run with him every morning at the crack of dawn, no matter if they had a life or not.
Finally, an agent steady raised their hand slowly up in the air.
The commander moved his eyes over to the agent who's hand was raised. "Speak." the commander demanded
The man cleared his throat as all eyes looked at him. He fumbles his words, "she - um out getting coffee for everyone, sir." He finally answered out loud.
The commander looked at all those around the room.
He rubbed the front of his eyes, feeling a pinging sensation of an upcoming headache.
This initiation game was getting on his last nerves.
Every year, a new recruit is assigned to his unit and his unit always plays this game.
He had ordered all to be here at the meeting and to find out that one of them was out getting coffee for the unit pissed him off.
"Why is she getting coffee for everyone?"
The same guy spoke up again, "because she's the new rookie."
Some of the agents chuckled with their hand over their mouth.
But the commander wasn't laughing as he got up, pushing his chair forcible back as it slammed against the wall causing a small dent.
The noise caused everyone to jumped. He walked over to the door holding the knob in his hand, squeezing it with everything he had inside of him.
"When she gets back to, have her come to my office immediately," he said before walking out and slamming the door behind him.
