Jin-ah and Kayden have always been the best friend for as long as the two of them could remember. It all started when Ji-ah and her family moved to states when she was just the rightful age of nine.
Ji-ah had transferred from a school in Cheongju, South Korea to Granite Bay High Elementary (school is made up) and of course it was quite hard for her now living in a foreign country.
She was bullied for not being able to speak English properly and her clothes were outdated since she wasn't with the trend.
But one girl by the name of Kayden was different than the other girls. She was the one that approached her and extended out a hand that Ji-ah at first was hesitant to take in the beginning.
But that didn't stop Kayden from not wanting to become friends with Ji-ah, the next day she came once more to Ji-ah and offered her a doll showing her that she wasn't alone in this cruel, cruel world.
And, gladly Ji-ah accepted the gift and soon, the duo became connected to the hip. If you were ever searching for the one you would definitely find the other one with them.
Ji-ah and Kayden did everything together from dress up parties to sleepovers.
As they got older, they pretty much would sit in front of the television waiting for America's Next Top Model to come on. They would comment and voice their opinion on who would win the competitions.
During commercials, Ji-ah would stand up and strut her stuff in the hallway, goofing that she had what it takes to become a model as well. From that, Kayden had a great idea. "Why don't we do our own fashion shows."
And so the birth of Ji-ah and Kay's fashion show was launched. Every weekend, the duo would go through Kayden's mom's old clothes and create new outfits that they could put together and on the weekends the would have their very own fashion show.
With Ji-ah's height, she became the highlight of the fashion show and Kayden would design her wardrobe for her to wear.
The fashion show was recorded every weekend by the girl's parents and then uploaded on social media.
The fashion show became a great success and positive and negative comments were stated but that didn't scare the girls away from loving what they enjoy doing.
Word got out as their videos were being shared across the world and a lot of modeling agencies started to request Ji-ah.
They felt like she had the IT face that they were looking for.
At first, Ji-ah was scared and a little taken back by the popularity that she was getting. She thanked all of the agencies that were calling her but felt that it was too overwhelming especially if that meant that she would have to leave her family and friend if she accepted any of their offers.
She spoke with her parents and they told her if she decided to do this, they were 100% behind her. Now that only left her best friend, Kayden.
What would Kayden say if she just left her behind and went off without her?
Ji-ah dragged her feet as she thought about it. Not realizing she was now standing in front of her best friend's house. She lifted up her hand and tapped just hard enough for someone to notice that they had company.
A few minutes later, the door open and standing was Kayden's dad giving Ji-ah a warm smile. He extended the door open for the young woman to walk in and since she the knew the house so well for eight years, Ji-ah knew where to find her best friend.
She had to Kay's bedroom and pushed open the door seeing her best friend laying on the bed watching reruns of ANTM. Her friend waved her friend in and Ji-ah sit down underneath her friend while they watch the show.
A commercial came on and Kay sat up on the bed. "So have you made up a decision?"
Ji-ah nodded her head. "I guess, I'm going to do it."
Kay squealed jumping up and down feeling excited that her friend was going to become a model. "But there's one thing, Kay, I have to leave here and go back to Seoul," she added.
Kay stopped jumping and let out a disappointing sigh but then brighten up sliding down next to her friend. She gripped their hands together and squeezed it tightly. "No matter what, we will still be friends even if you become a model."
The words choked out of Kay but she tried her best to keep them strong for the both of them. Ji-ah nodded her head and released their hands hugging her best friend.
The day came for Ji-ah to leave to go to Seoul. Her family and Kay's family came along to send her off. Ji-ah hugged each and everyone at the airport. The last to hug was Kay, "Promise me you will skype, facetime or whatever in your free time, okay?"
Ji-ah nodded her head as she pulled away from her best friend, hoping not to mess up her makeup but the tears kept falling. Soon an announcement was made and it was time for Ji-ah to board. She picked up her carry bag and placed it on her shoulder.
She waved a goodbye to everyone while heading to the terminal to board her plane.
This was would the be the first time since the best friends have met that they were now separated.
Years went by for of the females, Ji-ah was becoming the face of almost every designer that requested her to be a part of their fashion show, and Kay was seeing her friend on tv and also on the popular advertisement.
Even if they weren't together, their friendship never died, Kay was working on doing something that she loved to do as well. So when she got the opportunity to take a position in Seoul, without a doubt she accepted it.
Jin-ah who was now being called Nana sat sadly on her couch, watching old videos, reminiscing about the good times she had with her best friend, wishing that they were together once again.
All of suddenly a buzzing noise from her intercom brought her out of her trance and she got up from her couch and headed over to the monitor to see who it was.
In the screen, she couldn't really see anything but a big white teddy bear with a bright pink bow on the screen. She was a little frightened to accept the request to allow the person up to her apartment since lately she has been getting strange things from fans.
But something caught her attention and her eyes lit up recognizing something that she hasn't seen in so long time.
It was the same little doll that she was given to her when she was nine years old when she first arrived at her new school in the states.
Instead of pressing the accept button to allow the person to come to her, Nana decided to come to the person. She quickly placed her shoes on and dashed out of her apartment.
She didn't use the elevator since it would take her forever but instead, she used the stairs, skipping two at a time.
She opened the emergency door and the person turned their head seeing who had just exit out from the emergency door.
A loud squealed echo through the main floor as both females were now seeing each other again after over 3 years of being apart.
Cries and incoherent talking went back and forth until finally, they had calm down enough to answer each other questions. Kay had explained to Nana that a job offer to become a makeup artist for her agency became available and she accepted it.
It was an assistant job but nonetheless, she was able to be back with her best friend once again. Nana didn't care, she just was so happy to have her friend near her once again. And Kay could concur with that as well.
So now the two best friends were backed together, ready to start new adventures together now in Seoul.
So that's the background story of Jin-ah and Kayden's from young kids to adults.
But it doesn't end there, it's just beginning.
