ɴᴀïᴠᴇᴛé | ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ᴛʜʀᴇᴇ

Once Baekhyun was strapped into place, Nadia closed the passenger side door and walked over to the driver side.

She pulled the car handle open and stepped inside while inserting the key into the ignition.

As the car started to warm up, Baekhyun tugged on the strap of his seatbelt worried that he would be punished for his earlier actions.

But the question that came out of Nadia's mouth wasn't anything threatening when she placed her hand on his hand. "How about some ice cream, huh?"

Hearing the word ice cream, Baekhyun's face lit up like a Christmas tree while nodding his head up and down happy to receive a treat.

"Okay, to Kim's Ice Cream Parlor we go," Nadia said. She placed the car into the reverse, backing out from the parking spot and then going into the drive to head out from the police station.

The drive was silence between them as Nadia kept her eyes peeled to the road while Baekhyun turned his head glaring at the lights on the still open stores.

To him, the scene was a magical moment as he turned to tap the lights with his index finger but the car window kept stopping him from touching it. "How do they do that?" Baekhyun shifted his body to look like Nadia.

Now at a red light, Nadia had Baekhyun's attention until the light turned green. "How does what do what?"

Baekhyun points his finger out to the lights on the buildings. "That. How do they light up?"

Nadia follows Baekhyun's finger and sees what he was trying to explain to her. Of course, it was the lights on in the stores and he wanted to know how do they stand on. "There are switches inside the building that people switch on so they can see, just like it is at home. Do you remember?"

Baekhyun stared at Nadia for a moment before shaking his head. "I don't remember, sorry."

Nadia let out a sigh before turning into the parking lot of the ice cream shop. "It's alright, Baekhyun. I'll show you when we get home okay?"

Again he nods his head as the engine cuts off once Nadia had parked the car. She takes off her seatbelt and was about to get out of the car when she turned back to Baekhyun. "Do you remember how to take off your seatbelt?"

Because he watched Nadia take her off, Baekhyun remembered how to do it. He reached his right arm over his body and saw the seatbelt connected to the buckle.

He mushed the released button as hard as he could and the metal part of the seatbelt came out and snapped back almost hitting Baekhyun in the face.

But he didn't care, he glanced up to look at Nadia with the biggest smile on his face. "I did it!" He yelled beaming with joy. "I did it, Nadia!"

He was so happy that he leaned forward engulfing Nadia into a hug almost squeezing the life out of her. Sometimes, Baekhyun doesn't even know his own strength as he kept hugging Nadia until she was panting to breathe or to speak.

"Baekhyun...you're...squeezing...me, too tight," Nadia tried to say with ever breathe she tried to grasp.

Hearing her shortness of breath, Baekhyun finally released Nadia who now was gasping for air with her hand on her chest feeling her heart beating rapidly.

"I'm sorry, Nadia. I forgot how strong am I," Baekhyun looked down tapping his index fingers together.

"It's okay, Chimmie, let's just get out of the vehicle and go inside the shop." Now, Nadia was able to breathe regularly as she turned to open the door.

Baekhyun gave a slight nod while he watched Nadia open her door before he did the same. He never could understand cars even though he has driven in them for quite some time, he likes the freedom of being able to roam around with the necessary needs of a four-wheeled vehicle but its how people got around and he had to live with it.

He was happy that Nadia place wasn't that far away from the park so that he can be his true self while she was away at work.

"Come on, Chimmie, the shop will be closing soon," Nadia yelled out to Baekhyun napping him back so that they could head inside the parlor.

A ring from the bell above the door announced to the owner of the parlor that he had customers. The owner popped his head out from the bottom of the freezer seeing two regular customers walk into his shop.

"Hello, Nadia and Baekhyun, what can I get for you?" He asked, leaning over the counter waiting for them to respond to him.

"Hello, Ice Cream Man," Baekhyun replied hopping into his favorite spot that was near the window so that he could look outside to see the cars passed by.

Nadia stepped up to the counter and smiled warmly at the owner. "Hello, Minseok, can I get the usual for us, please?"

Minseok trailed over to Nadia as she opens her purse to pull out her money to pay for their usual ice cream. "I'm guessing something happens with Baekhyun, hum?"

Minseok starts to key in the information as the total appeared on Nadia's end. She was quite aware of the total without having to glance at the total to see.

"Yeah, he ended up in jail again because of you know who," Nadia answered as she handed Minseok the money and he put it in the register before heading to start scooping the ice cream for them.

Minseok chuckled while getting a jumbo-sized sundae dish to start on Baekhyun's ice cream before he moved to start on Nadia.

"Here's his," he stated, giving Nadia and Baekhyun's ice cream first.

Nadia received the ice cream and backed away as she walked over to Baekhyun sitting the ice cream in front of him.

He went to put his fingers into the ice cream but Nadia tapped his hand, stopping from doing so. "Let me get you a spoon," she said to him while rushing quickly over to the utensil counter to get a couple of spoons for them.

But as soon as she turned around to make her way back to late Baekhyun, it was already too late.

Poor Nadia
