FORGIVE ME CH. 1
I walked into the dark, gloomy church, I knew I wasn't alone. I could sense it. The only light in the church was lit by candles. My hearing senses were on high alert. I steady myself waiting for the best opportunity to take action. I slowly walked up to pew. It may have seemed that I was unarmed but I was prepared for anything. I noticed a figure seating in one of the booths and he didn't say a word. I opened the other door and walked inside closing the door behind me. I sat down placing my hands up in a praying stance as he opens the sliding door.
"Forgive me, father, for I've sinned," I said to him.
The man nods his head,"tell me your sins, my child." He says.
I lowered my head before saying my sins,"I've killed many people and I must continue doing it."
He nods once more before telling me. "Say ten hail Marys and pray to our father above for forgiveness." He was about to slide the door back but he wasn't fast enough. The blade of my sword caught the door forcing it back. The father was startled by the impact before it allowed me to force my way into the opening. He tried to get away but I was quicker.
"What are you doing?!" He cried out. He struggled back but could only go so far. I stab my sword into his hand stopping him from going any further. From my back pocket, I pulled out a small dagger. I kneeled down on top of him.
"What are you doing?" He asked once again.
I took the dagger and grazed it on his neck. Splattered with blood came spiraling out from his neck. Some of it getting on me as I wiped it away from my sight. He struggled to talk but the more he talked blood sought out of his throat. I pulled my sword out and flicked it removing the blood before placing it behind my back. After five minutes, the priest was finally gone. I pulled down his eyes and walked out of the church.
My job was done. It was on to the next one.
Before walking away I pulled out a cigarette and lit it up. I inhaled it before tossing it behind me. The church behind me was now engulfed in flames.
I walked a couple of blocks before I made it to the awaiting vehicle.
"Is the job completed?" He asked. I nodded my head answering his question as I removed the sword that was located behind my back. He started the engine and placed the car in drive to leave the scene.
As he was driving away he pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket and headed it over to me. "Here is your next mission." He told me. I looked at the name before using the lighter to burn up the paper. It disappeared in front of me and I turned to look out the window. Rolling down the window allowing the air to hit me. I reached out my hand trying to touch it. Wanted to be with it.
A spark stopped me bringing me back to reality. The bracelet that was on my wrist. I drew my arm back and the window went back up. I let out a sigh. "How much more until I'm free?"
The guy driving lifted his shoulders up and down, "The hell if I know. I'm just supposed to take you to your marks."
I looked down at the bracelet on my wrist. I turned it around. I was a prisoner. I had no choice but to do as I was told. I wanted to be free from everything. I thought to myself, will I ever be free? I don't even know who I am. I just know I was trained to kill.
I remembered being asked what was the one thing I wanted. My request was to be free. That was five years ago and I'm still waiting for that day I will be free.
Will I ever be free?
Who really am I?
All I knew was that I was a killer and I was heading to my next mark. I sat back in the seat and closed my eyes. Right now I needed to rest.
